Report on the game

A scoreline that really flattered the visitors after a dominating display from Liffeys, but missed chances came back to haunt us as the points were shared.

We started the game very sharply and could have been out of sight by half-time. We went 1–0 up after 31 minutes following a brilliant one-two between Seán McLean and Gavin O’Toole, with the latter expertly finishing into the bottom corner to give us the lead.

We continued to batter the Templeogue goal, with Gavin O’Toole, Seán McLean, Dylan Murphy and Paul O’Connor all coming very close to doubling our lead before half-time.

The second half started much the same, but missed chances proved costly. After a brilliant defensive and goalkeeping display, it took an 85th-minute wonder strike from Templeogue’s number 11, Fusco, to level the tie and leave Liffeys feeling like it was two points dropped rather than one gained.

A dominant display for much of the game, leaving a lot of positives to build on for the next match.
